Music is very much a substitute for place 1.10.13 Jeremy William Lamburn, composer/cellist 1962-2014
Several years ago I released myself from writing music with any tools other than manuscript paper a pencil and a rubber. I wanted to feel that I could create and record my compositional flow wherever I was - I spend a lot of time on and in water, away from a studio with a computer.
My first Play On Instagram post went up on Rathlin Island on 27th July 2016. I was on a sailing trip from Wales to Scotland via Ireland and had reached Rathlin harbour at dawn. After a swim later that day I sat at edge of the lake and wrote, Scotland to the right and Northern Ireland to the left, then mused how I could relay the music and situe online.
Ultimately for me the art unfolds as a real life happening, governed by my body being functional. My body is the temple - studio incorporate - of my soul.
Although I love to work creatively outdoors in nature, I am also blessed with a home and use of the Atelier in Caernarfon's Institwt for indoor studio activities. These places are special creative spaces for me, so I welcome you to Maes Helen to meet me as participating artist Maria Lamburn Multimedia Artist with Helfa Gelf Open Studios.
On 22nd September 2-4pm you are warmly invited as my guest to a private view of the three highly commended images for the Welsh Highland Railway poster competition at the new station in Caernarfon. My image NG143 Aberglaslyn Dragon is one of the winning three.
If you like to draw and paint for yourself you may like to come along to the drop-in lifedrawing which I host every Wednesday evening 6.30-9.30pm in the Atelier, Yr Institwt, Caernarfon. The session is open to beginners, students 16+ and professional artists. For further enquiries please visit galeriTONIC Model
If you wish to share thoughts, ideas and artwork please join in on the Welsh Art Thread Agora Edau Celf Cymraeg forum I set up as an arts network in Wales and further afield.
Visit Maria Madalena Aromatherapy if you would like to explore some of my olfactory and taste interests.
Of course there are always CDs and gigs for you to come to. Thanks so much for your interest, I look forward to meeting you.
