Ge Ba Chinese art of sole patching

About Me:

In my work I try to connect feelings - thoughts - ideas using sketchbooks and early morning iPad drawing. The accidental making of art from practical necessity interests me. Layering of materials - for example in Ge Ba - the ancient Chinese craft of sole patching on worn cloth shoes - reminds me of the strata that families build into generations of ancestors and descendants.

Media Types:

Digital Print | Installation | Painting | Textiles

What to expect:

An installation may materialise as in previous years of opening my studio. I'm not sure yet. Certainly there will be a welcome and the level of attention you want. Any responses to my studio work are important to me.

The studio is open 14/15 and 21/22 September for Helfa Gelf (11.00am-4.00pm)

Leave the A55 at Junction 15. Follow signs to the promenade. Find the grey house between the orange and green ones. Please come round the back for a warm welcome and conversation about art forms and creativity.

Nearby we have two playgrounds - a small skate park - nature walks along the cob - the Pavilion café next to the sea likes children and serves comfort food. For evening dining Ti Amo in Penmaenmawr offers a heart warming Italian experience.
