John and Marilyn Davies

Mostyn Willow 009

About Me:

We carve, in wood, and paint realistic native birds which we mount on locally sourced driftwood. These driftwood bases from the rivers Clwyd and Conwy are an essential component of the finished piece and their shapes often suggest what birds to carve. John first started carving forty years ago when we lived in the US where bird-carving is greatly prized. Marilyn uses pyrography to texture the feathers and paints the birds in acrylics. Our work has been exhibited in a variety of galleries.

What to expect:

Our studio is located in the garden and has views over the sea. You can see examples of our work and find out about the processes involved in creating it. Work will be available to buy.

The studio is open 14/15 and 21/22 September for Helfa Gelf (11.00am-4.00pm)

Fforddlas runs up the hill towards Gwaenysgor, turning off the A457 at the Cross Foxes pub. Our house and studio are a hundred yards on the right through white gates.

We're very close to Prestatyn High Street which offers a variety of shops and food and drink outlets. Fforddlas is also the beginning of the Offa's Dyke path.
