My work now is largely made from found objects and materials collected from beaches, hedges and roadsides. Their past function and identity adding to images that reflect my own experiences.
I grew up on an isolated farm in Hampshire, studied art at Winchester and Cardiff, and trained as a teacher of art in Liverpool, where I taught in schools. I moved to North Wales in 1984, and have worked as an artist since 1996 when my children left home.
What to expect:
My home and studio is on a quiet lane in unspoiled country overlooked by Moel Famau. Work, from all stages of my life, will be shown in the house, the studio, and in the garden.Join me for tea and cakes, or bring and enjoy a picnic in the field.
The studio is open 14/15 and 21/22 September for Helfa Gelf and the additional weekend of 28/29 September (11.00am-4.00pm)
Head North from Ruthin on the A525. Two miles out, you enter the village of Rhewl: at that point turn right (follow Gellifor). After about a mile you cross the River Clwyd; and turn first right. Mine is the first house on the right.
Bar meals and a play area for children may be found at the Drovers Arms in Rhewl. They serve delicious food at the SugarPlug on your left as you came from Rhewl: they serve delicious food there. There's a quiet country pub at Llangynhafal.
This studio is open throughout the year by appointment
