I have drawn since childhood; in my teens I developed a daily drawing practice that continues to this day. I take inspiration from my travel diaries of sketches, along with vivid & colourful dreams which I translate into abstracts. I interpret world & cultural events that press my creative buttons as 'story paintings': often large, detailed works in watercolour & acrylic, with some taking many months to complete. I teach life drawing in my studio on Saturdays.
Open 21, 22, 28, 29th September
What to expect:
Refreshments & a warm welcome. I'll be drawing & painting; unfinished work, sketchbooks & materials fill the studio. Framed work & mounted prints are displayed in the gallery as are makes from artists/makers living in Wales. Bank cards accepted.
Take junction 27 off the A55 towards St Asaph. At the mini roundabout turn 1st left over the bridge. The city will be ahead of you up the hill. Take first left into Lower Street, car park on the left. Myrtle House is third on the right-hand side.
Translator's Tearoom at the cathedral (closed Sunday), excellent ice cream shop & Junipers Gin Bar, a choice of cafes, pubs, takeaways & a good Co-op. The common is metres from my studio & a lovely place for a picnic & a walk along the river.
